How Muslims relate the Qur’an to modern science — honestly, and without overstating the case. Where claims are disputed among scholars and scientists, we say so.

Does Science Disprove God?

Science is very good at describing how the universe works — its mechanisms, laws, and history. It's not designed to answer why there is a universe with those laws at all, or why anything exists rather than nothing. Explaining a mechanism (how rain forms, how species evolve) is different from explaining away the deeper question of why a universe capable of producing rain or evolution exists in the first place.

What Does Islam Say About Evolution?

There is no single official Islamic position on evolution. Muslim scholars and scientists hold a genuine range of views: some accept the standard scientific account of biological evolution, including common descent, as compatible with Islamic theology; others accept evolution for non-human life while holding that Adam was directly, specially created; and others reject evolutionary biology on theological grounds. This page presents that real diversity honestly rather than picking a winner.

Does Islam Conflict With Science?

Islamic theology does not treat empirical scientific inquiry as a threat — the Qur'an repeatedly encourages observation and reflection on the natural world, and the Islamic civilization produced major contributions to mathematics, medicine, and astronomy for centuries. Specific tensions do exist around a handful of topics, addressed honestly on dedicated pages, but Islam as a whole does not treat science and faith as opposed.

The Qur'an and 'Scientific Miracles': An Honest Look

Some popular dawah material claims specific Qur'anic verses precisely predicted modern scientific facts unknowable in the 7th century — a genre sometimes called 'scientific miracles' or 'i'jaz'. This site is skeptical of many such claims: some rely on generous, retrofitted readings of Arabic terms, and serious Muslim scholars themselves are divided on how strong individual examples really are. We do not build the case for Islam on this genre, and explain why here.
